Tame that Mane with Fresh Rosemary, Apple Cider Vinegar + Essential Oils
Maintaining healthy hair can be difficult at times. No matter what type of hair that you have, you have probably searched for a product to improve the overall look and health of your hair.
However, most products include chemicals that can be harmful to our hair and our bodies. There are natural ways to improve hair health with ingredients that you probably have in your pantry. Tame your mane with a fresh rosemary, apple cider vinegar, and essential oils rinse.
What effect does vinegar have on hair?
Apple cider vinegar (ACV) is truly a miracle ingredient. When using it as a rinse for your hair, you will notice it looks shinier, feels cleaner and stronger, and can help reduce any itchiness. This is because ACV has high acidity and helps lower your hair and scalp’s pH levels.
ACV also has amazing antimicrobial properties that can help aid in scalp funguses and other problems. We recommend using a pure apple cider vinegar rinse as needed, likely every other week or every 2 weeks, and for the first time, you should always test patch your scalp before applying to the entire head.
What effect does rosemary have on hair?
Not only will rosemary help your hair grow, but it can also help delay graying and avoid dandruff! Rosemary essential oil can help improve circulation, promote nerve growth, and contains many anti-inflammatory powers. Additionally, this powerhouse oil can help prevent hair loss, and who doesn’t want that?
Some studies even prove that rosemary essential oil has the exact same effect as minoxidil, which most recognize as Rogaine. Choosing rosemary over other options allows your haircare to remain natural, and reduces any risk of burning or allergic reactions.
Benefits of a ACV Hair Rinse - DIY
This homemade apple cider vinegar hair rinse will provide a number of benefits to your hair’s health including:
- Promoting hair growth
- Balancing the pH
- Detoxifying
- Moisturizing
- Brightening
The added benefits to this DIY rinse is that it is affordable and super simple. You do not need to break the bank to reach your hair goals.
Does apple cider vinegar affect hair color?
Due to the acidity, it may be easy to assume that ACV would immediately or eventually strip your hair color, but the good news is–it won’t! It actually is only slightly acidic, meaning it is not acidic enough to strip even color treated hair. It may even help improve hair color as it smooths down your hair cuticles which will trap color molecules, stopping their plan to escape.
Is apple cider vinegar good for frizzy hair?
Frizzy hair stems from a high pH level, and as we stated before, ACV will help lower that pH. So, the short answer is yes, apple cider vinegar is amazing for frizzy hair. The added hydration and flattened, smoothed and closed hair cuticles will help restore your hair to be sleeker, shiner, and you can finally say goodbye to those pesky, frizzy hairs.

Are you READY for Shiny, Healthier Hair?
How to use
- Shampoo your hair as normal
- Spray a generous amount all over your hair and section if you have very thick hair.
- Massage into scalp for a minute or so, making sure you’ve covered everything.
- Let it sit for 2 minutes and rinse out leaving a small amount in your hair.
- Repeat 2-3 times a week. This works great replacing your conditioner on those days. For extra dry hair use every time you wash your hair, but always rinse out thoroughly when using it on every wash as you don’t want to make your hair greasy either.
Your hair will slightly smell like ACV when you rinse it out but only while it’s wet not dry. The Rosemary essential oils when massaged into the scalp encourages hair growth, so be sure to add the oil or one of your other favorite essential oils.
