All About Acne
TODAY WE ARE GOING TO TALK ABOUT THE NOT SO SECRET STRUGGLE OF ACNE.
Unfortunately, Acne is the most common skin condition in the United States, affecting up to 50 million Americans annually. Acne usually begins in puberty and affects many adolescents and young adults. Approximately 85 percent of people between the ages of 12 and 24 experience at least minor acne.
One study in 2013, shows that those who sought medical care for acne exceeded $1.2 billion. (More than 5.1 million people)So what can we try before jumping directly into over-the-counter drugs or antibiotics or steroid creams? Simple…try natural sources first.
Now, I’m not saying if you have extreme dermatitis to not go and see a dermatologist, I’m simply saying in conjunction with their treatment try natural remedies. Whether you have oily, dry or combination skin the right oils can be beneficial to you or for some people, life-changing!
What Bella GLOW SKincare (formally Auntie & Me) recommends…
JOJOBA OIL– It’s the molecular structure to our own natural sebum (oils). It is the best carrier oil for oily skin, as it tricks the skin into stopping the overproduction of its own oils. So this oil is also a perfect carrier for the essential oils that I will recommend you to try.The Best Essential Oils for Acne:
GERANIUM– Helps regulate sebum production, so it’s great for OILY skin or Congested skin types. Bonus! It also tightens the skin and promotes blood circulation, helping to heal acne scars.
TEA TREE & LAVENDER– all have powerful anti-bacterial properties that will south and treat pimples. Tea Tree, in particular, penetrates the blockage between your skin and glands, clearing clogged pores. Lavender should be used in a little bit of Jojoba Oil to calm current breakouts.
EUCALYPTUS– Much like Tea Tree will clear clogged pores but it’s historically known for its infection-fighting properties so it’s a great addition to your face wash, also if added to an all-natural apple cider vinegar toner it will help tame inflammation.
YLANG-YLANG-Perfect for combination skin as it balances sebum production while calming blemishes but is widely used for softening skin and improving your skin’s elasticity.
MYRRH– Amazing for breakouts but also intensely anti-inflammatory and healing for not only blemishes but wrinkles and lack of firmness, along with treating sunburns and even eczema.
PATCHOULI– Great for tightening pores, zap acne-causing bacteria and calming inflamed anger spots. Mix with a bit of jojoba and witch hazel for a gentle homemade astringent! LAST BUT NOT LEAST…
ROMAN CHAMOMILE- fantastic for calming breakouts while restoring and rejuvenating your skin. We hope that “cleared” some things up about ACNE!
